ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Public Library’s summer music series is back for another year.
Live on the Lawn brings musicians and singers of all genres to the library garden on select Thursdays from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. While attendees enjoy the show, they can also grab lunch from a local food truck parked on 1st Avenue North.
The series started as a way to bring the community back to the library after the pandemic. Now in its sixth year, Live on the Lawn continues to grow in popularity.
“People don’t often think of libraries and music, but the library is a place for all community events,” said Library Assistant Jane Lynch. “Especially the past few years here in Escanaba, the live music scene has just exploded, and we’ve been a big part of that. People love to come out and listen to music. It’s for all ages, and it’s been a huge success.”
Due to the weather, the first Live on the Lawn event was moved indoors. Western swing act Carolyn Martin & Co. performed for a full house. Below is a list of upcoming Live on the Lawn performers:
– July 2 – Gemini Moon (90s alt rock/60s/70s classic rock)
– July 16 – Kind of Blues (blues/jazz)
– July 30 – Folias Music (guitar/flute classical, jazz, world, improv)
– August 13 – Kitty Donohoe (folk, Michigan/Great Lakes, Irish songs)
