ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Bay College’s Escanaba campus kicked off its annual summer concert series on Tuesday.
Once a month from June through August, local artists perform at Lunchtime Live!, held in the circle drive outside of the Besse Theater when weather permits. Attendees can bring their own lunch or purchase food from an on-site vendor.
The first performer of the season was singer and songwriter Evie Breault.
“I’ve grown up in a really musical family, so that kind of inspired my love for music,” she said. “The past year, I’ve been able to play at a lot more places and be more immersed in my music. It’s something that gives me peace and that I know is something God has given me to reach other people.”
She says events like Lunchtime Live! provide opportunities for artists like her to share their talents with new audiences.
“Getting people to kind of know that I write music and to let people know that I play music, and kind of building a community too,” said Breault. “A lot of people saw me at an event and reached out to me for one of their events, so it’s really cool to see that come full circle and be kind of a community in that way.”
Lunchtime Live! performances run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Food vendors set up shop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The upcoming Lunchtime Live! artists and food vendors are as follows:
Tuesday, July 14 – Artist: Reflections, featuring Cindy Collins, Mike Pierron, and Michelle Czygan. Food Vendors: Taco Kitchen and Wicked Mike’s BBQ.
Tuesday, August 25 – Artist: Socially Chemical, featuring Dan Hall and Chris Gravatt. Food Vendors: Taco Kitchen and Sugar Jets.
In cases of inclement weather, performances will be moved indoors to Cafe Bay. Lunchtime Live! is free to attend and open to the public.
