HARRIS, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Island Resort & Casino has opened a new place for guests to eat.
Signature Pizza has long been a favorite menu item of customers who dine at The Reef, one of The Island’s several restaurants. Now, it finally has its own location inside the casino.
The menu includes options like meat lovers, chicken bacon ranch, Hawaiian, and veggie pizzas, along with cheesy bread sticks. Diners on the go can also get pepperoni and cheese pizza by the slice in about two minutes.
“In our market, which is the U.P. down to Milwaukee, we have the biggest hotel,” said Island Resort & Casino General Manager Tony Mancilla. “We have 454 rooms, and from Memorial Day through the end of September, we sell it out almost every day. With that, we have to have a lot of food options. We have breakfast options, fine dining. I think the one thing that we were lacking was that really quick service. Our pizza is very good, and I think it’s going to be real popular.”
The addition of Signature Pizza is just one component of a reconfiguration project at The Island. The coffee shop was recently relocated to free up space on the casino floor, while the poker room has been moved closer to the main floor to improve the flow of the space.
“We’re going to be more efficient, and you’re going to be able to get your product quicker,” said Island Food and Beverage Director Stephen Gakstatter. “That’s always been our goal, to continually get better at what we do and how we serve our guests.”
Signature Pizza is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. It is located next to T. McC’s Sportsbar.
