BREITUNG TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Wisconsin man is dead following a traffic accident in Dickinson County Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 2:19 p.m., the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls about a serious car-versus-motorcycle crash near the intersection of US-2 and Baler Drive in Breitung Township.
Preliminary investigations show that a white SUV pulling a trailer traveling eastbound on US-2 was preparing to turn onto Baler Drive. The SUV was being driven by a 70-year-old Wausaukee man. The motorcycle, operated by a 21-year-old Niagara man, was heading westbound on US-2 toward the US-2/US-141 intersection.
The SUV turned in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle collided with the trailer. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police, the Iron Mountain Police Department, Kingsford Public Safety, Integrity Care EMS, the Breitung Township Fire Department, and Town and Country Wrecker.
