GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Delta County dog owners have a new place to enjoy nature with their four-legged friends.
On Wednesday, Delta County Parks and Recreation installed a dog run at Pioneer Trail Park. The fenced area will allow dogs to run freely in a space designed just for them.
According to Delta County Parks Manager Heather LeDuc, a dog park has been a longtime dream among Pioneer Trail personnel.
“The camp host that’s been here for several years has always wanted to see one here,” she said. “We didn’t have the space for a large dog park, but I thought it was a great idea because we are a family-friendly park. We want all our family members to be welcome here, and that includes our furry family members as well. We’re just really excited to add some more layers to the park and to make sure that everybody has something to do down here and feels welcome.”
The dog run will open to guests on Thursday, May 28. Obstacles will be added in the coming weeks, along with benches made by Gladstone High School students.
While visiting the dog run, pups and their owners can stop at the park’s general store to purchase treats, “Delta Barks Patrol” bananas, and dog bowls. Pioneer Trail Park is located at 6822 US-2.
