DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Upper Peninsula nonprofit is raising money to help one lucky community member.
Now through May 30, Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan is selling Super Support Raffle tickets for $20. The raffle winner will receive $1,000 for their gas or propane expenses, $1,000 for their electric bill, and $1,000 for groceries.
Additional proceeds will support Kindness Rocks U.P. initiatives, which include free little libraries of books, mental health resources, and sleds, as well as programs to connect elderly and disabled individuals with people to mow their lawns or shovel their driveways. Kindness Rocks also raises funds to help firefighters and law enforcement with expenses outside of their budgets, and organizers have donated money to residents and businesses impacted by fires.
“It’s personal to me,” said founder and president Cris Moore-Lucier. “I judge my success in my career and in my life by how much I can lead and how much I can give to our community. I have always wanted to give back and help people when they’re in need. I just want to be able to put a positive outlook and the chance to make a difference.”
Super Support Raffle tickets are available in Gladstone at Main Street Pizza and The Dewdrop Family Restaurant, as well as in Bark River at the Highland Golf Club. The drawing will be held on May 31.
