MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Thousands of local bookstores across the country will be celebrating National Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, April 25.
At downtown Marquette’s Snowbound Books, Bromley’s Books, and Read My Lips, as well as Ishpeming’s Bats Amore Used Books, book worms will have their chances at deals, giveaways, and fun themes inside each stop.
Some of these themes will include A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, as Snowbound celebrates 42 years of business, and an Alice in Wonderland tea party theme at Bromley’s, celebrating its one year anniversary.
“What’s really special is, even though it’s a national event, each indie bookstore has its own unique flare, and their own unique parties and styles,” said Snowbound Books’ Manager, Bonny Mahin.
Read My Lips will hold a set of unique sales, with free book deals after spending $25, $50, or $100. Bats Amore is also holding a few individual events on top of Indie Bookstore day, including a “Bat” portrait contest and some other once-a-year opportunities.
The celebration will begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and wrap up at 6:00 p.m. Additional details can be found here.
