14 goals in two games last week
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Junior attacker Josie Lakosky has been named back-to-back IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week, and earned her fourth GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the IWLCA today.
Lakosky had a memorable weekend; she matched the NMU single-game program goals (9) and points (13) record in the 21-4 win over Davenport on Friday, then broke the NMU single-season goals record with five more tallies against Grand Valley on Sunday, all while eclipsing 100 points this season to become just the second player in an NMU jersey to score 100+ points in a season (Minnie Bittell, 2024, 108).
After the weekend, Lakosky has now accumulated 76 goals and 27 assists for 103 points on the season. The premier goal scorer in the country, Josie leads the DII lacrosse landscape in goals, goals per game, points, points per game, and shots on goal per game.
Along with setting the single-season NMU goals record (previous record was 72), Lakosky has set the single-season shots on goal (now 134) and has tied the single-season ground ball record (currently 44). Josie is also one away from tying both the draw control (85) and caused turnover (29) records, and is within striking distance of the single-season points (five away, 108), assists (nine away, 36), and shots (16 away, 171).
Lakosky is also close to setting a handful of career records in just three seasons in the Green and Gold, most notably the goal record, which stands at 219 (Minnie Bittell). Lakosky is at 190 with three more regular-season matches to go. Lakosky set the career ground ball record (109 and counting) and is three caused turnovers away from matching the career caused turnover record of 64 that was set by Lauryn Rygiel (2020-2023).
Lakosky earned co-national honors with Sophia Wood of Saint Leo, who had 10 points on seven goals and three assists to go with six draw controls and three ground balls in two games against top-10 opponents. Grand Valley State goalkeeper Sarah Krause earned national defensive player of the week thanks to a career-high 14 saves and a .875 save percentage in a 16-2 win over Concordia-St. Paul and a 12-save performance against NMU.

In the last two weekends of play, Lakosky has scored 22 goals and eight assists for 30 points to go along with 42 shots, 38 shots on goal, eight ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and 24 draw controls in three games.
