ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – U.P. communities are still dealing with flooding caused by melting snow and heavy rainfall.
High water levels continue to have significant impacts on travel across Delta County. In Escanaba, several roadways covered with water—including portions of Willow Creek Road and Third Avenue South—were closed to traffic Tuesday morning.
The flooding also caused issues at the Delta County Airport, which was forced to close both of its runways and cancel all outgoing flights. As of Tuesday afternoon, there is no estimated timeline for when operations will resume. According to Airport Manager Ashleigh Young, administrators are working with Delta County Emergency Management to handle the situation and to determine when conditions will be safe for flying.
A flood watch is still in effect for the entire Upper Peninsula through Wednesday. WZMQ 19 will continue to provide updates on flooding conditions as they develop.
