MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two arrests have been made related to the robbery of a Manistique convenience and liquor store last month.

On December 22, Manistique Public Safety responded to a robbery at The Apple Barrel, located on Deer Street. They learned that a single individual entered the store and demanded money from an employee. The employee turned over the money, and the robber left the store on foot.

As a result of a nearly month-long investigation, the Manistique Public Safety Department arrested two suspects. Both have been arraigned in the 93rd District Court on multiple charges.

43-year-old Joshua Mathew Jackson has been charged with the following offenses:

  • One count of robbery, a 15-year felony
  • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine or ecstasy), a 10-year felony and/or $15,000 fine
  • One count of second-degree retail fraud, a one-year misdemeanor and/or $2,000 or three times the value/difference in price of property stolen, whichever is greater

32-year-old Kaela Cheyenne Clark has been charged with the following offenses:

  • One count of harboring felons, a four-year felony and/or $5,000
  • One count of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine or ecstasy), a 10-year felony and/or $15,000
  • One count of Check – Non-Sufficient Funds $100 or more but less than $500, a one-year misdemeanor and/or $1,000 or three times the amount payable, whichever is greater

After her arrest, Clark was released on a personal recognizance bond. Jackson remains lodged at the Schoolcraft County Jail with a $100,000 bond.

According to Manistique Public Safety, the timely manner of the arrests is the result of a cooperative investigation involving several members of the Manistique Public Safety Department, the Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost, and Michigan State Police Outpost 84. The case remains under investigation.
