LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – On May 5, a Norway man most recently residing in California appeared in court for multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct.
As announced by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, 23-year-old Trentin McWilliams pled no contest to second-degree criminal sexual conduct for sexually assaulting a child at a relative’s home in 2018. He also pled guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October of 2022.
McWilliams was extradited to Dickinson County in September of 2024 by the U.S. Marshals Service as part of Operation Survivor Justice. The operation is a partnership between the Michigan Department of the Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend, and return Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants. Extraditions through the operation were funded last year by a $1 million state appropriation.
“This operation Survivor Justice conviction is a powerful example of what this partnership can accomplish,” Nessel said.
McWilliams is scheduled to be sentenced in the 41st Circuit Court of Dickinson County on July 7.
