L’ANSE, Mich. – Contractors for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be performing maintenance on US-41 in Baraga and Keweenaw counties, requiring lane closures beginning Sept. 9:

  • Beginning Monday, Sept. 9, motorists should expect one lane of alternating traffic using traffic controllers on US-41 from the US-141/M-28 intersection to Dog Patch Road and from north of Assinins to south of Kelsey Road, Baraga County, for shoulder gravel maintenance. The length of a traffic controller operation will be limited to 2 miles. The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, Sept. 19.
  • Beginning Monday, Sept. 9, motorists should expect one lane of alternating traffic under a temporary traffic signal on US-41 southwest of Lake Medora Road in Grant Township, Keweenaw County, for guardrail work and placement of rip rap for erosion control. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 20.

The work is weather dependent, and the schedule may be adjusted.

These projects will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the roadway.
