ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This summer, a Delta County girl is making her community a better place one treat at a time.
About two months ago, Roxy West first set up Roxy Jo’s Sweets—a stand where she sells lemonade, baked goods, and vegetables.
“All of it is made with love,” Roxy said.
She originally started the stand to make money for a U.P. State Fair wristband. Roxy Jo’s Sweets was so successful that she has continued raising money to make care packages for the homeless and support local nonprofits. Roxy can often be found at community events, like the Mission of Hope Glow Run over the weekend.
“I just think it’s the right thing to do,” she said. “That’s what Jesus would tell me to do, to help the homeless, because you don’t just need to worry about yourself. Other people, they need help too, so I want to help other people too.”
Roxy hopes to continue running Roxy Jo’s Sweets and supporting those in need.
