MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – At approximately 4:45 am on Monday morning, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to the area of Country Road 550 near Middle Island Point Road for a single vehicle crash.
While on the way to the crash scene, troopers were advised there were three occupants in the vehicle, one of which had been ejected.
Upon arrival, troopers identified the driver as a 16-year-old male, who was transported to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of serious injuries.
The front seat passenger, a 17-year-old female, was also transported to UPHS-Marquette for evaluation.
The back seat passenger, an 18-year-old male, was entrapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and WZMQ will continue to update this story as more information is available.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Marquette City Police Department, Marquette Township Fire Department, and UPHS EMS.
