MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Maritime Museum and the Liberty Children’s Art Project partnered together to put on a free youth plein air painting workshop Monday for the start of the annual Marquette Art Week.
The workshop allowed kids of all ages to come out and sketch and draw whatever they like.
They were supplied brushes and a canvas, and the kids were allowed to either paint the lighthouse or any other scenery they wanted to.
“Any kind of arts and culture is important for kids. It makes them happy lets them be creative, creativity is important for kids,” said Hilary Billman, director of the Marquette Maritime Museum.
The workshop was led for the Marquette’s annual Art Week and is in its eighth year.
