MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, Marquette celebrated the beginning of its annual Art Week with a workshop on all things forest, trees, and fungi. The workshop was led by local artist Todd Carter and the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy at Shiras Park.
Carter gave a presentation on the importance of the forest, nature, and fungi and how it’s all interconnected. He also had games, activities, and an art project for everyone to participate in.
“There is nothing more important than community, and it’s just a great way to come out, meet some of your community members, enjoy the gorgeous day, learn more about your surrounding environments,” said Braden Kowalski, land steward intern for the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy. “It’s just a great way to get outside and learn about art.”
After the event, the UPLC led a nature walk in the nearby woods.
Events will be held all week for Art Week. For more information, click here.
