LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday (5/27/24) at approximately 2:50 a.m. members of the Lansing Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of River Front Dr for a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd of people and multiple shooting victims.
The Lansing Fire Department responded to treat and transport several of the victims to a local hospital. In total, 7 people were shot.
A 17-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the hospital. At least one person is listed in critical condition. The shooting victims were identified ranging in age from 15-20 years old.
UPDATE: The Lansing Police Department has identified the homicide victim as Kylete Owens (17 years old) A 20-year-old is in critical condition and a 16-year-old is in critical condition. Two 16-year-olds and two 18-year-olds suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All the victims in this case are male.
No arrests were made, this is believed to be an isolated incident.
This is an active investigation and Lansing Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are at the scene working to determine the events which led up to the shootings.
