ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Tuesday, May 7, voters will decide the lineup of the Delta County Board of Commissioners in a recall election.
Republican Commissioner David Moyle will face Democrat Kelli Van Ginhoven for his District 4 seat. Republican Commissioner Bob Barron will face no-party candidate Myra Croasdell in District 3, and Republican Commissioner Robert Petersen will face no-party candidate Matt Jensen in District 5. Voters are able to cast their ballots for one of the two candidates in the district where they reside.
“If you’re in the City of Escanaba, you would go to one of the four precincts, then we also have Bark River, Ford River, and Escanaba Township Precinct 2,” explained Delta County Clerk Nancy Przewrocki. “Basically, the recall is all west of the Escanaba River.”
Since 2001, Przewrocki says she has only seen three or four recalls actually make it into the ballot. Nearly a year after the original recall petitions were filed, she anticipates a strong response from voters.
“The local clerks have been busy, mostly with absentee ballots, and today they’re setting up their equipment for tomorrow,” she said. “It’s a pretty contested race, so a lot of people have already voted absentee ballot, but I think we’ll have a good turnout at the polls also.”
Przewrocki reminds voters that the name they should select on the ballot is the candidate they want to serve on the County Board of Commissioners for the remainder of the term.
The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. For a full list of voting locations in each precinct, click here.
