MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Recall language against 2 MAPS board members has been denied for being unclear.
Language was filed last month for the recall of school board members Jennifer Klipp and Jennifer Ray. In a clarity review hearing Thursday afternoon the Marquette County Election Commission unanimously voted 3-0 to deny the language.
According to the commission the language did not meet clarity criteria to move forward with a recall.
“When I have a recall petition in front of me I do not even look at the news media, I stop, I want you both to know that I take this very seriously as do they,” remarked Linda Talsma a member of the Election Commission.
This is the second recall effort against Klipp and Ray, the first effort was also denied in September 2023.
Margaret Brumm, who filed the recall language, has 10 days to appeal the election commission’s decision.
