MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Kids of all ages gathered at Presque Isle Park on Saturday to search for the 5,000 eggs that were left by the Easter Bunny, and his friends at the United Way of Marquette County, who has been putting on the event for nine years.
Families come to enjoy donuts, hot chocolate, fun with the easter bunny, and goodies in the eggs. It does not require a ticket or reservation, there are also two divisions, the younger kids have a small area marked off to hunt for the eggs compared to the older kids who are searching through the whole park.
All the eggs are filled with toys and treats as well as a chance to win a raffle basket. All of the prizes and treats, including the donuts, hot chocolate, and coffee were donated from local businesses. This event is based all around the community and the support is shown. United Way representative Andrew Ruckauer shared how this egg hunt was started for the joy of the community, “It just started uh, because there was no egg hunt in Marquette, you know all the surrounding communities had one and Marquette didn’t have an egg hunt and, we need an egg hunt it’s fun”.
This Easter egg hunt is truly a community-based tradition that has brought memories to multiple families. United Way has much gratitude for those who support them and can not wait for next year. More on United Way or future events got to unitedway.org.
