Partridge Creek Farm (PCF), Ishpeming, MI- Partridge Creek Farm Executive Director, May Tsupros, announces they are stepping into a new role as the Director of Farm to Institution Programs at MSU’s Center for Regional Food Systems. May aims to lead significant change at the state level, enhancing access and funding within the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) food system to benefit not only the Ishpeming community but the entire U.P. region. May is looking forward to using their experience at Partridge Creek Farm to bring further awareness to the significance of food education and access in the U.P.

May Tsupros says of their time with PCF, “I am incredibly proud of what we have collectively been able to accomplish in the past four years under my tenure. We went from 1 part-time job to a staff of six full time jobs. Our budget has grown 700%.  The Intergenerational Farm located on the old Bell Hospital site will be up and running and providing produce to the school cafeteria and community members this spring, focusing on those who are food insecure and more vulnerable. The community, youth, and senior programs are underway. Ishpeming Schools will have an integrated K-12 curriculum including an Agriculture Career Technical Education (CTE) program in 2024-25 and Partridge Creek Compost has even started a residential compost pickup program this winter in Ishpeming. I am confident that the work will continue to flourish and grow under the tutelage of our new leaders.”

May’s prior teaching experience helped shape the direction of the Farm to School Program, fostering significant relationships between PCF and the Ishpeming School District.”What May has accomplished in her 4 years at Partridge Creek Farms is phenomenal.  Their passion and intelligence are contagious to everyone they come in contact with and they leave a lasting impact”. Seth Hoopingarner, Principal Ishpeming High School and Middle School

“We congratulate May on her new position with MSU, but are thankful that they will maintain a seat on the Board of Partridge Creek Farm, and they will still support the collaborative State-wide. The Ishpeming school staff are pleased with May’s replacement, and we look forward to the growth of our partnership and the development of the new community gardens and learning space.  Thank you to May for everything they did for our students and our District.” Carrie Meyer, Ishpeming Superintendent.

Partridge Creek Farm board has named a new Executive Director who will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
