ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – This weekend, two unique events will be held at the Escanaba Marina.
On Friday, July 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Municipal Marina will host Mi Fresh Fish Fry, presented by Michigan Sea Grant and Michigan State University. Attendees of all ages will hear about the work local fisheries do, learn how to cook fresh fish, and enjoy fishing activities on Little Bay de Noc.
“They did it, I believe, last year in Houghton and it was very well received,” said City of Escanaba Harbormaster and Recreation Director Kim Peterson. “They contacted us, and we said, ‘Why not? We have the room; we have the people that would definitely come out for it.’ It’s going to be more about the fish that comes out of the bays, for getting people familiar with what the fisheries can provide, and, obviously, helping them eat the fruits of the bearings, too!”

On Saturday, July 25, Inland Seas will host a three-hour Public Sail on a 77-foot schooner from 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be a hands-on educational experience covering topics like water quality testing, plankton collecting, and discovering local ecosystems.
