MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Conditions seemed to shift drastically from Friday morning into the evening. A winter storm warning was put into effect Friday, and expected to carry through Saturday night.
Friday afternoon, Marquette residents were in and out of Tadych’s Marketplace, stocking up on food, supplies, and anything they might need for the long weekend. “It didn’t seem like it was gonna bethat much this morning I thought ehh maybe its another one of those now it’s getting worse by the hour,” commented Marquette resident Mike Muth.
Friday morning saw a light snowfall which didn’t appear to be as intense as the evening ahead, but residents were driving the roads cautiously and urge others to do the same.
“I haven’t driven that far but I’ve heard it’s not very good it is a bit slippery so I’m just taking it slow and heading home,” said another resident. Community members have noted that up US-41 and more towards the Negaunee area where elevation goes up, the roads have become a little more slick.
