Kingsford Flivver Hockey Players Shine in Teddy Bear Toss Charity Showdown

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Mountain View Ice Arena came to life with excitement as the Kingsford Flivvers clashed with the Jeffers Jets in a captivating match-up for charity, the arena’s annual Teddy Bear toss. Wyatt Scott, the senior dynamo donning number 10, ignited the crowd with the Flivvers’ opening goal, followed by the impressive sophomore, Will Murvich, the lucky number 13, securing the second.

Despite the team falling short of victory, the senior goal-scorer shared his enthusiasm: “It felt good. Yeah, it was my first goal all season, so. I think it’s good that you guys are doing this, and we got a lot of people that come here and give back to all the kids, it’s always nice to do that,” stated Scott.

The brand-new Teddy bears will go to the kids at the Caringhouse shelter, ensuring that children sheltered from domestic violence will have a bright Christmas this year. WZMQ is waiting on an official ‘Teddy tally’ from the First National Bank and Trust. Teddy Bears from this event are also given to local first responder teams to help calm children who are discovered on the scene of an emergency.

Looking forward to the December 30th showdown at Mountain View Ice Arena, against rivals Iron Mountain High School, Scott acknowledged the need for improvement: “We’ve gotta play better than that, obviously. We’re not running all our systems great, and we’ve just gotta come out faster.”

Adding a layer of excitement, the Air the Bear Challenge unfolded during the game, with Matt Lutz, Shannon Powell, and finally Ryan Gordon from Stephen’s Real Estate claiming the top three spots in the challenge.

The Kingsford School Hockey team expresses its grattitude for 4 Major Sponsors:
