MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The NMU theater and dance department celebrated 60 years in operation over the weekend.
The department celebrated the milestone by inviting alumni to the Northern campus for the inaugural alumni awards ceremony.
Alumni who have made careers in the arts and theater field from around the country traveled to Marquette for the event. Throughout last week alumni were able to meet with students and provide insight and even networking opportunities.
“This is about making sure our alumni come home, we want our new students to connect with our former students, because it is all about networking, and it is just a great way for the community to come in and see the power of the education that is happening here,” remarked Bill Digneit, the Theatre and Dance Department Head.
According to Digneit the department will continue to hold Alumni awards ceremonies in the future.
