ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Ahead of Escanaba’s homecoming football game Friday evening, the downtown went all out to show its support.
Several shops and restaurants decked out their storefronts in the Eskymos’ colors, while others displayed their best orange and black products. Rosy’s Diner handed out pom-poms for the parade, while T&T True Value Hardware hosted a tailgating event on the sidewalk.
“I’ve coached at Escanaba for a lot of years, and I’ve been here all my life and graduated from Escanaba,” said T&T owner Kelly O’Connell. “Just to see all the students backing their classmates, the homecoming dance tomorrow, football game tonight. When they look back later on in life, I think it’s a real special week in their lives as a high school student.”
The National Guard even got into the school spirit at the DDA Center Court, selling Crumbl cookies to raise money for the Escanaba High School wrestling program.
The homecoming football game will take place at the Escanaba Athletic Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
