MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Thousands of alumni were on the campus of Northern Michigan University this weekend for the school’s homecoming football game.

The Wildcats took on the U-W La Crosse Eagles in front of a full crowd Saturday afternoon. The matchup was a big one for the ‘Cats as they looked to get a win in the books after starting the season 0-2.

Northern struggled right from the start giving up a touchdown on the opening drive. The Eagles would continue the momentum winning the game 34 -3. Alumni in attendance say that even though the Wildcats did not secure a win this weekend, homecoming was still a success.

“We love the whole place up here, from other colleges to Northern we really had a unique experience. We really formed great close friends,” remarked Suzy Hocking, who has been making the trip to Marquette for the homecoming game every year with her friends since they graduated in the 1970’s.

The win drops the Wildcats to 0-3 on the season, they will head to Quincy next weekend as they continue to look for their first win of the year.
