IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – In a heartwarming display of camaraderie, the Class of 2024 seniors from Iron Mountain High School embraced the latest social media trend by gathering at the crack of dawn Wednesday morning. They came together to witness the breathtaking sunrise that marked the beginning of their senior year.
The Senior Sunrise trend has been sweeping across high schools nationwide, urging seniors to cherish their last first sunrise together. While not every senior in the class chose to rise with the sun, the varsity volleyball players, led by the spirited Emily Copley, saw this as the perfect opportunity to reconnect with their roots. They decided to revisit the hallowed grounds of North Elementary School, where their educational journey began.
Emily Copley, a senior varsity volleyball student-athlete, described the memorable morning, stating, “We all got there, kinda just sat around for a little bit. McKinlee Peterson brought donuts for everyone, so that was kinda nice, got some orange juice and donuts for breakfast, so. We just kinda sat there and talked as the sun rose, and got a couple pictures.” Other seniors on the volleyball team nodded in agreement.
The students reveled in this symbolic moment, reminiscing about the past and looking ahead to the future. Now, these spirited seniors have their sights set on a similar event at their graduation—the Senior Sunset. With hearts full of hope, they anticipate a larger turnout, eager to create lasting memories as they bid farewell to their high school years under the setting sun.
