IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Iron Mountain Police Department released information about a report received on July 12th about a 59-year-old south Wisconsin man sexually assaulting a minor. The report stated an adult male had traveled to Iron Mountain to meet up with a minor from the area, and took them to a local motel where the assault took place. The Iron Mountain Police Department said these events took place before the report on the 12th. The Wisconsin Man was also reported to have ties to Florida.
The report states that on July 21st, the man attempted to contact the minor again but was actually communicating with an IMPD officer. The man traveled to Iron Mountain believing he was going to meet with the minor a second time, but was met by IMPD at the location where he was taken into custody.
The man is being lodged in the Dickinson County Correctional Center without bond, pending formal charges and arraignment in 95-B District Court.
