Sands Township, Mich.(WZMQ) – This year’s Marquette County Fair will feature a new 5k running event. The cross country style fun run will go along a mostly soft packed dirt, and gravel track and will take place Saturday, August 12th at 10am on the fairgrounds.
Online registration is $15, runners who register before the end of July will receive a day pass for the fair and a t-shirt for the event.
The run’s coordinator, Chris Durley, says they’ve been working with The Queen City Running Company and NMU track coaches to get ready for the run. Durley said with the new fun run, organizers hope to bring more people out to The Marquette County Fair.
“With it being the first annual, we’re excited to see what the turn out is.” Durley said. “The whole goal of this is just to get people out to the fair, check out the fairgrounds, then you can stay for the day or come back for the big line dance party we have at night time.”
Online registration for the run closes August 8th, you can check out more race information and get registered at runsignup.com/Race/MI/Gwinn/MCFfunrun
