IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Colin Olsen and Logan McCoy, two of the many talented baseball players from the Kingsford All Stars Little League team in Dickinson County, were ecstatic after winning their first game of the state tournament series. Their exhilarating victory of 4-2 against the Gull Lake Majors at Bates Park in Petoskey had filled them with confidence and excitement.
As the soon-to-be seventh graders celebrated their triumph, planning a day of team fun at a waterpark and fishing, Colin and Logan couldn’t help but think about their team’s future in the tournament. They knew that staying prepared, and focused was crucial for their upcoming games.
In a Zoom interview with WZMQ, the two players shared their strategy for success. Colin began, “We take some batting practice before each game. Yeah. Just get loose, have a pitcher’s throw, take some pop-flys, take infield.” Logan nodded in agreement, adding, “And then, like also make sure, like usually our pitch coach will take us and see who’s doing good on pitching and that right now.”
Their dedication and commitment to honing their skills were evident, and it was clear that the Kingsford All Stars were not taking their next opponent, Marine City, lightly. The team knew that every game in the state tournament was crucial, and they were determined to give it their all.
With the game against Marine City scheduled for tomorrow evening, Colin and Logan were eager to showcase their abilities once again. They understood the importance of staying focused and prepared, knowing that their hard work and determination would be the key to their success in the tournament.
