MENOMINEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marinette, Wisc. man faces multiple felonies including armed robbery and assault after an overnight incident at a grocery store.
The Menominee County Prosecutor, Jeffrey Rogg, says 42-year-old Robert John-Walter Wilson faces multiple counts of felony armed robbery and assault with intent to rob while armed. Each offense carries a possible life imprisonment sentence if convicted.
In the criminal complaint, officers with the Menominee Police Department say the incident happened on May 30 at the Jack’s Fresh Market grocery store around 8:30 p.m. Officers reported a cashier at the liquor counter said a man entered the store and presented a handwritten note that read, “I have a fun give me the money and no one gets hurt.”
The cashier reported the suspect put his hand in his pocket to mimic holding a gun and said, “I’m not messing around,” and “I’ll blast you.” The man got away with about $770.
Police reviewed surveillance footage and found Wilson, the suspect, at the nearby Holiday gas station.
Wilson’s bond was set at $150,000 cash surety. He is due back in court for a probable cause hearing on June 14.
Rogg said in a statement in part, “As we unravel the web woven by the defendant, we send a resounding message to all who dare to challenge the integrity of our community: there is no sanctuary to those who trample on the principles of law and order.”
