SHINGLETON, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Lower Michigan woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after a snowmobile crash in Alger County.
The Alger County Sheriff’s Office says it happened Friday morning around 9:30 on Trail #8 near Shingleton.
Deputies say 44-year-old Wendy Batterbee, from Birch Run in Saginaw County, missed a curve in the trail. She struck several trees and was ejected from the machine, sustaining extensive injuries.
Alger County Rescue 21 and Alger County EMS extricated Batterbee from the scene. She was taken to U.P. Health System-Marquette.
The sheriff’s office determined excessive speed was the cause of the crash.
