Downtown Marquette Farmers Market concludes Wednesday evening market season

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Downtown Marquette Wednesday evening Farmers Market wrapped up its third successful season yesterday evening.

The Wednesday evening market has been going on since June 15 and has featured new farmers and vendors down at Marquette Commons.

“I think that Marquette continues to become more and more and more popular,” said Sara Johnson, market manager. “We are attracting new vendors every year. It’s really incredible to see new farmers come out of the woodwork as well, especially younger farmers in this community.”

The final Wednesday evening market featured vendors selling hanging cat beds, fresh produce, dairy-free ice cream and an assortment of jams.

Johnson said that with COVID-19 pandemic restrictions lessening, more social events were able to take place at the markets.

“It was really nice to have programs coming back this year,” Johnson said. “The past few years we haven’t been able to because of various restrictions but we have programs going back in full swing, music every week as well, and it just kind of just feeling like we are getting back to where they used to be and feel good having them.”

Although the Wednesday evening market has concluded, the Saturday morning market will go until Dec. 21.

The last day for the outdoor season before vendors move indoors will be Oct. 29. Families and Halloween-lovers can look forward to dressing up and having a fun spooky night.

For more information about the market and ways to get involved, you can find them on their website or Instagram page.
