The U.S. Coast Guard used a helicopter to rescue an angler from a ice floe off the Keweenaw Peninsula last week, officials said on Facebook.

The survivor was wearing appropriate gear for the weather, including a survival suit, float bib and float vest, which helped him, according to the Coast Guard.

A crew of four on an Air Station Traverse City MH-60 Jayhawk performed the rescue.
