MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Voters in Marquette turned out to the polls in high amounts across Tuesday.
Following a popular early voting season that pulled over 30% of registered Michigan voters, some Marquette precint locations had lines out the door this Election Day.
Multiple races at local, county, and state levels are holding important standards to many citizens, including the city’s commission race, in which seven candidates are competing to fill three seats.
Poll workers said by the early afternoon, the turnout seemed to compare to the 2024 Presidential Election, not often seen during a midterm.
“Right now it’s quite a long line,” explained Chair for Marquette’s Precinct Four, JoAnn Olivier around 1 p.m. Tuesday. “By now in precinct four alone we’ve had about 500 voters for today, which is a really good turnout for this election.”
Tuesday’s results won’t be official until the Marquette County Board of Canvassers finalize them later this week.
