ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A new holiday tradition is coming to downtown Ishpeming this winter, and it comes with a very special hat.
The inaugural Ishpeming Kriskindlmarkt runs over two weekends in late November and early December, a finnish-themed Christmas market with mulled wine, beer, wooden toys, and ornaments in downtown ishpeming.
Organizers are also launching the Kriskindl Cheermeister, a community honor for a Marquette county resident who spreads kindness and brings people together year round.
The winner receives a hand-carved ceremonial staff, holiday duties at the market, and a one-of-a-kind Stormy Kromer hat.
Founder of the event, Kevin Corkin, says the market will feel like the real thing. “It’s gonna be just like you see at any other traditional Christmas market,” says Corkin. “It’ll be Finnish themed, we’re looking at beer, brats, pretzels, toys, the whole nine yards.”
