CALUMET TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 50-year-old Calumet man died Sunday after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into two residential properties in Calumet Township.
Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post were called to the area of School Street and Hecla Street around 3:53 p.m. on August 30.
Investigators say the man was driving east on School Street when he experienced a medical emergency.
The pickup left the roadway and crashed into an attached garage at a home on the north side of School Street.
Police say the driver then put the truck in reverse, crossed the road, and struck the attached garage of a second home on the south side of the street.
A trooper and first responder removed the driver from the vehicle and attempted to provide medical aid, including CPR.
The man was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw, where he was pronounced dead.
State police say the man’s death is believed to have been caused by the medical emergency rather than injuries from the crash.
No one inside either residence was injured, and no other injuries were reported.
The investigation remains ongoing.
