MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – NMU students are back on campus for the 2026 fall semester. To kick off the year, the university’s annual Fall Fest was held on Monday, showcasing just about everything Marquette has to offer.
The annual event opens the door for students to learn about clubs, teams, university departments, and surrounding organizations. For both returning students and those brand new to the area, the event combines their participation with local engagment.
For students like Sommer Sterrett, a senior double majoring in multimedia journalism & political science, also a producer with Public Eye News, it’s always a welcoming show of community.
“You’re meeting tons of new people, starting to get to know the campus,” she said. “We all get to give our schpiel about our organization and about why we’re different from all the other orgs.”
Local names offered financial assistance, job opportunities, and general information. Over 125 booths came to Fall Fest, each carrying a reminder of what to look out for as students ease into the semester.
“It’s been great to let students know that even if they live on campus they can still get access to our materials and sign up for library cards,” said PWPL Communications Coordinator, Mackenzie Geary.
“Students have been excited to pick up pocket schedules and see when the ‘Cats are playing,” said Assistant Director of Sports Information, Braden Golisek.
