ST. IGNACE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A St. Ignace man has been arrested and arraigned in connection with the alleged theft of more than $20,000 intended for the Mackinac County Animal Shelter.
In July of 2025, the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post launched an investigation after receiving a report about suspected misconduct involving funds meant for the animal shelter. According to MSP, over $20,000 meant for the shelter was redirected to another nonprofit, the Mackinac Animal Aid Association. The suspect, 63-year-old Andrew Valentine was the president of that organization.
Valentine was arrested on June 10, 2026 and lodged in the Mackinac County Jail. He faces one felony count of larceny by conversion, $20,000 or more.
Valentine was released on a personal recognizance bond.
