MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette playground has unveiled two new swing sets, following a generous Marquette Rotary Club grant.
In collaboration with the City of Marquette, two swing set structures at Giant’s Foot Park were replaced this spring. The project utilized a matching grant of $7,000 split evenly between Marquette Rotary District 6220 and Rotary International.
This grant money comes directly from the Rotary Club’s fundraising efforts, such as its upcoming annual golf outing on May 28. Club President, Chuck Blaksmith says projects like this couldn’t be possible without its local support.
“From all of our fundraisers, 100% of the proceeds go back to the community, and you don’t know the amount of lives it’s going to touch,” he said.
The club says it looks to continue a tradition of providing similar funds for local projects in the future.
