MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Zonta Club of Marquette gathered tonight to honor the women who make a difference in the community.
The fifth annual Honor A Woman event at NMU’s Northern Center brought the community together – with dinner, basket raffles, and a keynote address from Stephanie Graef of the U.P. Human Trafficking Task Force, who touched on sexual assault, resilience, and the adversity women face.
Her message to the room was one of gratitude and responsibility: “We’ve made it this far, how many women have come before us? To get us to this point,” said Graef. “Amen and God bless those women. We have the next duty, to carry that torch and to do what is necessary, not so much what is easy.”
The Zonta Club of Marquette works year-round advocating for women and girls across the region.
