LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Democratic candidate for Governor, Jocelyn Benson, submitted 30,000 signatures to secure her spot in the primary election on Tuesday, August 4.
In a release, her campaign said Jocelyn gathered with dozens of Michiganders in Lansing to celebrate with the volunteers, supporters, and community leaders.
The statement reads: “After over a year on the campaign trail, Jocelyn is building a strong, people-powered coalition across the state to win in November just as she has done in her past two statewide victories. While the rest of the gubernatorial field is focused on appealing to Trump and his MAGA donors, today’s submission further underscores the momentum and enthusiasm statewide behind Jocelyn and her plan to lower costs for families across the state.”
Another Democrat in the race, Chris Swanson, is scheduled to make an announcement Friday morning. They are just two of over 15 candidates working to get on the ballot for the August primary.
