MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – As we continue to clean up after the record-setting Saint Patrick’s blizzard of 2026, communities across the U.P. are assessing the damage and taking stock of the toll the storm had on community resources. During tonight’s Marquette City Commission meeting, Mayor Paul Schloegel took time to thank city and county road crews, the Marquette DDA, the Board of Light and Power, and everyone who responded to the storm.
The mayor said he is proud of those who got us all back to normal, with the least amount of disruption.
“They were prepared. All the entities that needed to communicate were communicating together and really working as one. So, you know, really impressed with how from the city to the county to the state, you know, everybody was on the same page,” said Marquette Mayor Paul Schloegel.
Schloegel said city crews had all the resources they needed to fight the storm, including sand, salt, and overtime for plow crews
