ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – On the west end of Marquette county, Ishpeming Public Schools passed its bond proposal.
Upon its passing, the school will be able to build new locker rooms, bathrooms, and a concession stand at its athletic field, as well as repave the facility’s tennis courts.
With a proposal of tax bonds costing roughly 3.7 million dollars, voters approved the measure by almost 200 votes. Ishpeming Public Schools Superintendent Carrie Meyer, says the facilities will extend years of athletics for future students, and that the district is proud of its community members for their support.
“We’re very thankful for not only our community, but the alumni, they come from all around to support our students,” she said. “Our students are aware, and are very grateful for their support.”
The new construction is expected to begin in early 2026.
