MUNISING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Alger County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) continues its investigation into the disappearance of 65-year-old Starla Goings from Munising, who was reportedly last seen at her residence in the late evening on August 15, 2025.

ACSO began the investigation after deputies were notified on August 17 at approximately 6:33 p.m., after her family reported her missing. Since then, efforts have been ongoing to locate her. Goings is a white female, approximately 5’04” tall, weighing 160 lbs, with short white hair and brown eyes. There is currently no known clothing description.

Goings’ disappearance is being treated as a missing persons case in which foul play could be a factor. The vehicle she was known to drive, an orange 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan, was located a short distance from her home on Peninsula Point Road in Munising Township. Since her disappearance, deputies and partnering law enforcement agencies have followed up on numerous tips and leads since the investigation began. Search efforts have also been conducted, which included remote and wooded areas.

“The investigation into Starla’s disappearance remains a high priority,” said Sheriff Todd Brock. “We are working every day and are following all possible evidence and investigative leads. We want the public to know that we are doing everything we can to bring answers into her disappearance for her family and for our community.”

The ACSO continues to ask for public assistance and is specifically seeking anyone who may have:

· Observed an orange 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan between August 15-17, particularly in the 16 Mile Lake/M-94 area, as well as in Munising Township or Au Train Township.

· Outdoor surveillance video or images (trail cameras, home surveillance cameras, etc.) in the vicinity of Peninsula Point Road, the 16 Mile Lake/M-94 area, or surrounding areas showing any unusual activity.

· Noticed unusual activity or vehicle movement in remote or wooded areas around Munising Township or Au Train Township during the August 15-17 period.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Alger County Sheriff’s Office at 906-387-7030.
