MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – UP Health System (UPHS) – Marquette has been awarded one of U.S. News and World Report‘s Best Hospital awards for spinal fusion and pacemaker implantation.

The annual procedures and conditions ratings are designed to help patients and their healthcare providers make informed decisions. U.S. News and World Report evaluated over 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions. Only 1/3rd of the hospitals considered earned the award.

“This recognition from U.S. News & World Report is a reflection of the high-quality, compassionate care our teams provide every day,” said Tonya Darner, chief executive officer of UP Health System – Marquette. “Earning a high-performing rating in both spinal fusion and pacemaker implantation highlights our continued commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and the health of the communities we serve across the Upper Peninsula.”

“For more than three decades, U.S. News has been an invaluable guide for patients,” said Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “Hospitals designated as ‘High Performing’ by U.S. News demonstrate a consistent ability to provide excellent care for particular medical procedures and conditions, showcasing their specialized expertise as well as dedication to exceptional patient outcomes.”
