MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Marquette Police Department is partnering with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to host a Hunter Safety Field Day on Friday, Aug. 2, at the Presque Isle Pavilion.
The event is designed for students who have completed the online portion of Michigan’s hunter safety course and need to fulfill the in-person field day requirement to receive their hunting license.
While the Marquette Police Department offers full in-person hunter safety courses during the year, officials said the field day provides a convenient alternative for students opting for the online version.
“It’s just a different option for students who elect to do the online portion, instead of doing the traditional three or four day in-person course,” said Cpl. Nicholas Calzetta of the Marquette Police Department. “So it’s a little bit easier for the students if they do it online and then want to just come and do the one day field day portion. So it’s just a different option for whatever works for scheduling or learning.”
Those interested in attending are asked to register in advance. To register check out the Michigan DNR’s website.
