MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A criminal investigation is underway after a two-vehicle crash in a roundabout in Marquette Township Thursday evening.
Around 7:42 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was called to US-41 W near County Road HQ near Walmart.
A 25-year-old Ishpeming woman in a Ford F150 and a 92-year-old Marquette man in a Cadillac SRX collided in the roundabout, sending the Cadillac off the road and into the eastbound ditch.
The Ishpeming woman and her passenger were uninjured. The Marquette man and his 96-year-old female passenger were both transported to UPHS- Marquette, where the woman is being treated for serious injuries, and the man is reportedly in stable condition.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash, and a criminal investigation is underway.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by Michigan State Police- Negaunee Post, UPHS EMS, Marquette Township Fire Department, Marquette Township EMS, and Marquette Detailing.
