CALUMET TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A man was killed in a head-on crash with a vehicle after losing control of his dirt bike.
Michigan State Police from the Calumet Post were called to Copper City Rd., near the Houghton-Keweenaw County line, around 5:06 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. An investigation showed the 27-year-old man on the dirt bike was heading west when the driver lost control on the pavement, crossed the centerline, and hit an oncoming Jeep driven by a 45-year-old man. The man was ejected from the dirt bike and pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. No names have been released.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, Laurium Police Department, Mercy EMS, and Patriot Towing.
